The WHA fascinated me, still does 35 years after its demise. The bounce of faint AM radio signals off the Earth atmosphere enabled me to occasionally with some difficulty monitor the developments of Howe New England Whalers on WTIC from my Maryland home. The closest subway station to the Edison is just two minutes away. If you are staying in New York for a few days I would definitely recommend buying an unlimited seven day Metro Card for $31. Central Park (0.7 mile), the Empire State Building (one mile) and Rockefeller Centre (0.5 mile) are all within comfortable walking distance of the Edison but if you're wanting to explore further afield it's certainly the best way to go..
